IllustrateYourLife presents PIECES LIVE - an International Comic Jam.
The project aims to promote the art of comics and strengthen the cultural relations between Poland and Australia, initiated by the "Australian Comics presented by IllustrateYourLife" exhibition presented during the 2018 International Festival of Comics and Games in Lodz.
Six artists representing both countries were invited to participate in PIECES LIVE. Based on the original concept of the Pieces Project by Jakub Mazerant / IllustrateyourLife, together they prepare a six-panel comic short.
Each of the invited artists is responsible for one frame ("piece"). The participants have a chance to establish a creative dialogue, build a continuation of the story, and artistically interpret the featured characters. It is up to the artists to decide how the story unfolds. Before starting work, everyone receives a "keyword" (prompt) that must appear in the piece as a part of a dialogue or in a graphic form.
PIECES LIVE plays an educational role - it allows the audience to learn about the artists and their way of working. It strengthens international relations, promotes the Festival and the Center of Science and Technology EC1 in Poland and abroad.
